THANK YOU for making The Unwanteds a New York Times Bestselling Series!!

Great news, Unwanteds fans! We had a tremendous first week thanks to all of you going out and getting your copies of The Unwanteds: Island of Fire. You did so well that you propelled the series right on to the New York Times Bestselling Series list! That is AMAZING, because that list is very hard to crack.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

If you are a teacher, librarian, home schooler, book clubber, or megafan, you might find this Unwanteds Series Curriculum Guide to be fun and helpful. It's a terrific resource written by former librarian and 2002 Chair of the Newbery Award Committee, and it aligns with Common Core standards. Download and pass it around all you like.

Let's keep the momentum going! If you haven't had a chance to purchase Island of Fire or the first two books (The Unwanteds and The Unwanteds: Island of Silence), now's a great time to do it. And if you are eagerly awaiting book 4 (coming Sept 2014), why not let your friends know about the series so they can catch up? Just tell them it's about a world where children who are caught being creative get sent to their deaths. Or mention what Kirkus Reviews called it: "The Hunger Games meets Harry Potter."

Thank you again for your love and support. I love my job, and I wouldn't be able to do it without the wonderful support of readers like you. You make me want to write more books!

Uhm...just so you know, and I'm really ashamed of this, but I won't have this assignment done by Saturday. I weep at my own nightmarish inadequacy.

Well then Mr. Landru, it's off to Quill with you.

Lisa, I'm so excited for you! I first picked up Book 1 last Spring at our Scholastic book fair (I teach fifth grade). I read the book in 3 days. I shared it with my fourth grade reluctant reader, Anna. She LOVED it and we read it together quickly.

This school year, it was our first read aloud. We just finished Book 1 last week. They are hooked and obsessed! We tried to start a new book, but they are balking. Just encouraging them to buy books 2 and 3 to read for themselves!

Rachel, thanks so much for letting me know that your family and your students are enjoying The Unwanteds series! I'm so glad to hear it. I'm planning 7 books in the series. Book 4 will be out Sept 2, 2014.
