Oooh, Snap

It's been cold here in the desert. Temperatures in the 20s at night have caused people's water pipes to burst and damaged citrus crops (not to mention my two 20-foot tall ficus trees).

So while you East coasters have been lounging in the January heat wave, we've witnessed a cold snap like we haven't seen in years around the Phoenix valley (so they tell me, anyway). Now's your chance to point and laugh. I mean, like, my swimming pool temp is like totally down to 46 degrees.

Wow, that IS unusual! The year I got married and first moved to Mesa (1990), it actually snowed a tiny bit. I'm sure the cold is no problem for you, though. We've been enjoying beautiful snow this week, which is an infrequent occurrence here in the land of rain, rain, and more rain.

Well, temperatures in the 20s and 30s are *kind of* a heat wave for January in upstate NY, but nothing to brag about. We had some snow this morning. The real heat wave of earlier this month (40s-50s) is over now.

Sharon - we had snow on the Superstitions last spring. It lasted half the morning, but I got a photo or two.

Zen -- what is it with upstate NY anyway?!! My hometown of Holland Michigan tried to compete with Buffalo for largest snowfall amounts a few years ago...Buffalo still won, even though Holland managed 5' in a week.

We don't get socked with snow like Buffalo can -- they have the lake, but we've had 3' weeks. Not this year, tho. Not yet.

I admit, I don't miss snow. Not yet.

Even I got snow last week, and ice and rain and more rain.

Didn't you move to get away from the cold, Lisa?

You might even have to buy some socks!

it keeps up she'll probably force me to make her some. (I'm wearing these today. Last Monday it was 70 degrees here and today it is below thirty with a 25 mile an hour wind.

I hate winter.
